ANR Biodiversity 2007 Project

EMERFUNDIS Project

The ANR Biodiversity 2007 project "EMERFUNDIS" : Understanding the emergence of fungal diseases of plants: to estimate the risks associated with global change.
Project coordinators : Jean Carlier and Tatiana Giraud.

The emergence of fungal plant diseases is one of the most important factors of decreased biodiversity. This project  aims at predicting the impacts of global change on the emergences of plant disease.

Different approaches will be used:
  1. A model aimed at identifying the factors that contribute to the emergence of plant diseases in natural ecosystems and agro-ecosystems,
  2. A database compiling information on the traits of living history of invasive fungal pathogens and the characteristics of agro invaded, will seek a typology of emergency,
  3. Phylogeographics studies will estimate genetic parameters invasions of several important pathogens (genetic variability of populations sources and introduced bottlenecks, selective sweeps…)
  4. Experiments will be conducted to examine possible evolutionary changes that accompanied these emergences (climatic adaptation, hybridizations, changes… hosts).

The teams participating in the project (and team leaders) are as follows:
